Guru ji-

Which guruji was that with a bright orange palla around his neck? I asked, is it Guru Angad dev ji? But how do I know? Then I saw Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib ji. I recognized the lota he kept near him. I saw three wavey lines with a dot on top. I think, it's another way of writing Om - meaning God. I asked him, how did he take the trouble to give me darshan when I was sleeping, not even doing nam simran lying down? I asked him to speak to me, as I have trouble understanding. Then the gurbani lines automatically came in my mind -
Kaho Nanak Jin Braham Pachata
Prab Sahib Ka Tin Bhed Jata.

Then I saw Guru Nank dev ji and the Ek- Onkar symbol written over his body, covering his whole body. I kept asking the guru to give me some instruction or tell me something. What does it all mean?

Did it indicate that Guru Nanak and the Nirankar are one and the same? I know Sikhs already say this as so do some shabads, probably the vaaran written by Bhai Gurdas ji etc. And I know I have my doubts as Guru Nanak Dev ji himself showed me that Nirankar was massive and in comparison Nanak looked just like a common old villager.

My memory went back to the day I was over-emotional and asked Guru Nanak if he would ever come for me like he did for Babe Nanaki? I had thought that day and many other times - what karma did these ladies do to deserve to have such personal relationship with the greatest Guru of this world? And what kind of karma have I done that it took me 500 year to take this human life to hear about them and my great Guru' s bani. I must be a very lowly soul, otherwise I could have been one of those bad people, that he went to teach the right way. I see even Noorshah, Sajjan thug and Malik Bhago as better and fortunate souls that the Guru himself came to see, let alone the fortune of Bhai Mardana who had the pleasure yo spend so many years alone with the Guru. I probably was some unknown insect that didn' t get to see the Guru in his physical body and hear his message from his own mouth. I have often wondered how beautiful would Guru Nanak sing and how powerful his Aura would be to stop an angry mob holding rocks to hit him to death for singing in the cemetery who ended up mesmerized by his singing. I wasn' t even there to listen to my Guru's singing. Where was I, the unfortunate one? That was in mid Nov 2010.

How to have mystical experiences in meditation

Have you been meditating and wonder why you never experienced anything mystical?
Now that you are wondering about this question, at this point of your life, it might be your time to get there. So you sometimes meditate and get to a stage where you feel peace and tranqual? That is the 1st stage meditation. Now what? How to get to the next stage? Ask yourself - what do I want from the meditation. If you are walking a certain path, you must have a destination in mind. What is your destination? What is that you want to achieve from this act?

Don,t ask your mind, ask your heart. Be clear about the difference between your mind and brain. Your mind is full of thoughts. This mind runs faster than any computer in the world. The point of meditation on a mantra / word by chanting / reciting it over and over again is to help the mind get rid of other thoughts, except one, that you are trying to be one with the word. When the other thoughts are eliminated, your mind comes to rest. At this point you automatically stop reciting and start listening. In Japji sahib path, note the sequence of Parhiye, Suniyai, Manne ki gat stanza's / paurees.

In one line Guru Nanak explains, "Gaviyai, suniyai, man rakiyai bhao"
Meaning - recite, listen and keep a feeling of love in the heart.

So the answer to your question is right here. You have been reciting followed by just listening silently but did you have a feeling guiding you? When you felt the peace, you thought you have achieved your goal? That was preparation to get ready to listen to your soul. Once the soul starts giving messages focus on the soul's message and stop the focus on your breath or the word you were chanting.

Is it necessary to take Amrit if one already meditates?

Someone asked this question. The answer lies in the person's personal goal. How far does this person want to go? It's like asking - I have bought a harmonium and I can play a few tunes. Do I need a teacher? More info later.

Mindfulness is always necessary to balance faith with wisdom, concentration with effort, and concentration with wisdom. Mindfulness is desirable under all circumstances, because mind-fulness protects the mind from becoming agitated due to excess faith, effort, or wisdom. P. 12

Second brain in the gut? Gastroenterology - Vagus nerve

In the Reference book 'The element encyclopedia of the psychic world: the ultimate a-z of spirits, mysteries and the paranormal by Theresa Cheung' c2006, ISBN 9780007211487, p 273, its mentioned that,

"the body has a 2nd primitive 'brain' in the layers of tissue lining the stomach, small intestine and colon. It is actually a network of neurons, neurotransmitters and proteins called enteric nervous system (ENS). The ENS and its interaction with the brain in the head are so complex that it is a field of study in its own right, called gastroenterology.

It further said that eventually the connection between the two brains shrunk to a single nerve, called the Vagus nerve.

Scientific info on Vagus nerve is on the following site.
Encyclopedia Britannica Online

Its interesting to note that this nerve is connected to the larnyx which as mentioned by Samuel Sagan in his book, 'Opening the third eye' that activating the Larnyx is very important in achieving the results from deep meditation. Also breathing into the solar plexus (stomach area) is important for deeper meditation. It looks like all the important points in meditation, have the Vagus nerve going through them. It might be the magic connection between the third eye, throat chakra, heart and the nabhkamal / solar plexus.

Clairsentience, the ability to get intuitive insight and information through your sense of touch or feeling what is around you is what we refer to as gut feeling, intuition or vibes etc. This ability, I believe is developed more and more with regular meditation.
So can we simplify meditation in its first stage as the awareness of the Vagus nerve and its connecting places? Is it the magic nerve?

Now I have found a yoga site that calls this nerve the cool nerve associated with the feeling of Gratitude, Compassion, Love and Happiness. There you go! So I just figured out something that everyone already knows! :)

Seeing a jagged tree trunk and then a log

I woke up at 2 am today which would be 3 am, my regular time with day light saving. Since yesterday I was too tired at work and I didn't have that natural urge to meditate which I usually do, I decided to go back to sleep. At 6.15 am after enjoying chatting with my beautiful son in the bed, I felt rotten that I hadn't meditated. So I started it, just to keep the practice going. After a while, I saw a jagged medium size tree trunk which looked miserable. I prayed to fix this trunk and saw a neatly cut log on the ground. I didn't understand if it was any better thank the jagged trunk standing.

According to the dream dictionary
Seeing a trunk in your dream, represents old memories, ideals, hopes, and old emotions. It may indications issues and feelings that you have not dealt with.  Seeing the trunk of a tree means your inner sense of well being and personality. If the trunk is thick and large, then it indicates that you are a strong, rugged and durable person. If the trunk is thin and narrow, then it suggests that you are a highly sensitive person.

Reading this explained  that it truly was how I feel about a certain old memory which came up to the surface after listening to the 'Asa di var' yesterday, which my son had put on. Some situations really don't have a solution when you really don't want to address them thinking there is no hope of a changed behaviour on the other end.

That was the very reason, I didn't feel like meditating this morning. I didn't want those memories to come to the surface which did show up as jagged tree trunk anyway. So I know now how jagged my soul is, in relation to that issue. However, seeing the log was good. The dream dictionary says that a log is a new opportunity.

Fathom Ether - What does it mean?

Today after my meditation, in my sleepy state I saw these words "Fatham Ether" written in black colour. When I asked what does that mean? I was shown a long triangular shape. Inside it was a twig with some flowers on it. Does it mean for me to try to comprehend the beauty in nature and God's creation? As I tried to wonder about this meaning, I saw the written words again, except written in Green colour this time.

In the old English Fathom means - outstretched arms. This takes me into a deeper meaning. In the last couple of months I have discovered that focusing somewhere in the space within one hand distance around my body, gives fantastic meditation results. I have previously written a blog on Body Pyramid which also mentions about this empty space around the body.

When I think about the meditation session, I was asking for Guru Nanak's direction. I probably was also indirectly complaining that He has given me darshan a few times but never have I experienced the light coming out of his toe. I expressed my wish to take amrit from his toe as He use to do in his time on this planet. I repented the day when He came and I started looking at him from his feet upwards. I was upset with myself, "Why did I focus on recognising the face rather than on placing my head on his feet, which I first felt the urge to". Anyway that opportunity is gone.

After this thought, I had focused on the Reiki and other healing etc and asked him if Reiki was also one of those 18 Sidhis that one can attain by meditation. I wondered what were the 9 Ridhis and 18 Sidhis exactly that one gains. Then I whinged that I do not find the peace and joy in healing or in knowing the future or in those revealing dreams and written words that I see. These things might be useful for the day-to-day living but I want the joy that I have once experienced with the opening of the Heart-lotus and with the Darshan on the Nirankar. That is what I am truly searching for. Surely pregnancy is a hinderance in meditation as I am never comfortable sitting or lying down. I start feeling dizzy and strangely uncomfortable after regulated breathing, the very reason i was upset with this pregnancy when I so wanted to experience deep meditation until 2012 at least. Somewhere deep, I feel that I must be ready for another lesson in life which this newborn will bring for me. New lesson I can handle in life but challenges I can't anymore. So I pray to the Guru to help me get through whatever is destined for me and help me accept the Divine Will.

God is Guru / the true spiritual master

Sayings from Gurbani taken from Guru granth Sahib ji, the holy scriptures of the Sikhs

Pavan Guru, Pani Pita

Gur jaisa nahi ko dev

Gur Mere Sang sada hai nale

Guru guru gur kar man mor

Gur ka shabad basai mere hiyare

I had a great meditation session today. Can't remember the 2nd line that automatically came after Pavan Guru, Pani Pita. I was going to write a blog on the TRUE GURU but found the link below by accident when I ended up typing 'GURU PAVAN' instead of PAVAN GURU. Not sure what to make of the writing about the satguru in this blog. In one sense I agree with him on the state of Sikhs but not sure if its OK to be called a Satguru and steel (should I dare say?) the Gurfateh of Sikhs
'Waherguru Ji Ka Khalsa
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh'

and mould it slightly and say

'Satnaam Ji Ka Khalsa
Satnaam Ji Ki Fateh'.

even though, it is validating Guru Nanak Dev ji's Ek Onkar Satnaam.

This guy (so called Satguru) seems to be following the right path as I trully understand his point of view that all Sikh prayers are asking the deciple to meditate and yet not all Sikhs are doing it. I am also most impressed with the experiences of the writer of this blog - Jaspal Singh. My worry is that there are many so called (self-promoted) enlightened masters including OSHO and Byas Satsang guy - The Radhaswami's but they all take their material for lectures etc from the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhs. These Satguru's haven't contributed anything original to the spiritual world yet like Guru Nanak did. So for me, its hard to justify that they are Satguru's. I believe as Guru Nanak said that God is undescribable, immesurable etc that the latest Satguru should be able to tell us a bit more about God than any predecessor spiritual masters. Otherwise how can they claim to be satgurus?

Do unborn babies have astral body?

13 weeks of pregnancy would have just finished. Is it the time of the Soul to enter the body? I saw the baby's body in the meditation afterwards. The baby still had a tail bone outside the body. The pregnancy book showed a similar picture.

I had asked a few weeks back that I want to know the soul that would enter this body beforehand. I had requested / should say demanded that I only want a spiritual soul, otherwise I refuse to have another baby, even though I am already pregnant. I said that I will only accept this baby, if I like the soul. I know this is not accepting the Divine Will, but I was upset with the pregnancy. It wasn't something I was expecting at this age. In my mind the family was already complete. I  had also demanded that I know as and when the soul enters the body.  I was so silly to not realise that the gursikh man that came in my meditation on the 10th Jan, 2011 and asked me to make 500 Rotis to donate was asking for it because of my pregnancy. My son taught me the Golden Chain meditation in mid June, 2011 and I saw my baby's astral body go into the green light on my right hand side where I saw many spiritual beings standing with their hands folded. It was a soothing experience but I was ashamed to realise that this baby is still speculating if its a good move to be born again and I was thinking that I am having difficulty acceopting the baby in my life. The soul of the baby is too scared to make any further mistakes in the coming life. I had to convince the soul that all will be Ok and we will make this life better from spiritual perspective, together. (29th June, 2011)

Only a day before I actually saw the baby's body, I had wondered if the unborn baby also has an astral body like other human beings do? If that is the case, then I should be able to see it as I can see the astral bodies. I wasn't able to see the astral body that day. Was I able to see it after the soul entered the body? Why not before?

According to the article below, the soul enters the body at the time of conception. http://www.scribd.com/doc/15502191/When-Does-the-Soul-Enter-the-Body-by-Mary-Kretzmann

Whereas in the link below, the \yoga teacher is saying around 12 week mark, at the time around quickening. http://www.yogaforums.com/forums/f16/when-does-the-soul-come-to-the-body-2486.html

Someone in the above forum added, "we are all different in body, mind, spirit and other dimensions, perhaps our souls unite with our bodies at different stages for each individual, depending on our karma and our needs."

The strange fact is that although I was pregnant, I didn't feel I was carrying a life until this day. After this experience, I told everyone that I am having a baby with no feeling of burden that I was feeling before. The results of my ultrasound and the blood test have not come in yet but I am feeling positive about this baby now.
