One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
Maya, the Trapper, has sprung her trap.
The Guru, the Liberated One, has put out the fire.
When I came to understand this mind, from the tips of my toes to the crown of my head,
then I took my cleansing bath, deep within my self. ||1||

and I have met my Sovereign Lord King without fear. ||2||
My attachment to Maya has been eradicated;
the moon energy has devoured the sun energy.
When I was focused and merged into the all-pervading Lord,

The hearer has heard, and enshrined it in the mind.

Gurbani - Alternative definition of Sangat

hir nwmu hmwrI sMgiq Aiq ipAwrI
The Lord's Name is my most beloved society
At one point in life, when I did regular meditation, I didn't feel like going to the temple for a regular service. I felt disturbed by too many people sitting too close to me. Then I wanted to meditate as the kirtan started but was forever conscious about people watching me and thinking I shouldn't be doing it here, as they might judge me. After a few months of internal conflict, I started meditating whenever I felt like it, without worrying about the people around me. One of these days, in a conversation the granthi / priest said to me that it is not necessary for me to come to the Sangat / congregation. I was worried if it was my ego that stops me from being in sangat as I meditate and think that most others don't. I was worried that the Guru says that meditation in Sangat was the most supreme act with most benefits and I ignore the sangat. He had mentioned Naam as Sangat then, but today I found the gurbani lines that convinced me that its acceptable to not attend the congregation if you are immersed in Naam / meditation at home.

Knowing the future - change it or not?

I was just looking at the Sikh calender to see important dates in Sep that might become my child's birthdate and the historical significance of those dates. I was expecting 18th Sep since 10th of August. Now that date is only two days away, 21st sounds better or 23th-24th and the speculation goes on.

How interesting to find that Guru Nanak Dev ji gave the Guruship to Guru Angad Dev ji four days before he left his physical body - a clear indication that Guru Nanak always knew the grand plan of the universe and accepted it.
Gurpurb

Gurgadi Guru Angad Dev ji - 18 Sep
Joti jot Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji - 22 Sep

Another notable historical event is the departure of Guru Amar Das ji and Guru Ram Das ji falls on the same date, this year it is 16th Sep. The story goes that Guru Amar Das ji found out that his Son-in-Law Ram Das had a short life and he gave the remaining years of his life to Ram Das and made him the next Guru. I have been a non-believer that always suspected if such things are possible. So for people like me, its a proof that this is possible and the story is true. Otherwise, its a remote coincidence that the two depart this world on the same date of different years.
More info on Guru Amar Das ji on
http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Guru_Amar_Das
and on Guru Ram Das ji on
http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Guru_Ram_Das

For me, its still a delimma. Obviously, the 1st option is acceptance of God's Will. Sometimes in life, especially when its a decision of the death of a younger person, it can be difficult to accept. I wonder if it is necessary to sacrifice something to take another? I understand, especially after my prayer to Guru Nanak that did work; that spiritual energy can be converted into anything that can be the price you pay for your request. Now there is a good reason why we should worry more about collecting spiritual energy by regular meditation that worry about collecting money only, for security.

Read a beautiful story on the link I have pasted - Once during several days of rain while Guru Amar Das was riding by a wall which he saw was on the verge of falling he galloped his horse past the wall. The Sikhs questioned him saying; "O Master, you have instructed us, 'fear not death, for it comes to all' and 'the Guru and the God-man are beyond the pale of birth and death', why did you then gallop past the collapsing wall?" Guru Amar Das replied; "Our body is the embodiment of God's light. It is through the human body that one can explore one's limitless spiritual possibilities. Demi-gods envy the human form. One should not, therefore, play with it recklessly. One must submit to the Will of God, when one's time is over, but not crave death, nor invite it without a sufficient and noble cause. It is self surrender for the good of man that one should seek, not physical annihilation."

After the chattering of the mind has stopped and you have started hearing / listening to the chant, stop chanting aloud. Chant within your mind in rhythm with your breath. As the listening becomes more focused on the God, stop the inner chant as well and just contemplate on the feeling. Feeling is the essence. This is what was missing when you first started chanting aloud. That chanting was for the mind. Now with the feeling, its from the heart with a feeling of unconditional love.

Three treasures of Daoism / Taoism

Right portal - 3rd eye
Five holy signals - Five sacred words - oo thai fo mila
The holy hand seal

According to Dao / Tao philosophy, one must know of the right portal to go to at the time of death. This portal is the 3rd eye from which one travels. The two eyes are the two robbers that rob us of the true knowledge. The right path is the portal of the 3rd eye which shows the truth. When meditating, keep the tongue on the roof of the mouth - the palate.

When one reaches the door of the heaven, he / she is stopped by the gatekeeper and asked for the five sounds / words. If one forgets these five words then he /she can't enter the heaven. These sounds are a secret that must never be spoken in front of a person who is not initiated and mustn't be spoken aloud as the devils can hear these words and can then enter the heaven. One must also know the holy hand signal.

Here is the info about the 3rd treasure - holy hand seal. The blog below is talking about nurturing love as the meaning of the hand seal but its more than that. Hand seal mentions something 12 of life and 13th being the God. The thumb of the right hand is kept at the base of the ring finger which is the end and the thumb of the left hand hold the base of the little finger which is the new beginning, while the four fingers of the left and cover the right hand. The counting is bit weird. All four points of the little finger and the index finger are counted but for the ring finger, the middle finger and the thumb only the tip is counted. Dao suggests to its followers to make the holy hand seal in case of a natural disaster and recite the five words while focusing on the 3rd eye and assured that by doing this no harm will come to the person concerned.

I am interested in this stuff as I see the similarity. When we read gurbani, it talks of the Panch Shabad Tit Ghar Sabhage, Kala jit ghar dhariya - five sounds.
Guru Nanak's story tells of him stopping while counting as he reached number 13 and said Tera.
Offcourse, it advices to close the worldly eyes and open the 3rd eye.
But what's the deal with doing the hand seal physically, I don't understand.

Kundalini and Pranic energy combination (in Panjabi)

I found this in my old emails that I had sent. Useful info about combining Kundalini and Pranic energy.

Kundalini energy sap (Snake) di chaal  chadi hai te aag (Fire element and female emergy hai). Kundalini de ikdam gir ke 1st or 2nd chakra point tak aan karke gussa te hor vikara val khhich pendi hai. Kundalini jehre chakra point te tiki hundi hai, us chakra diyan tendencies insaan display karda hai. Kundalini di shakti nu dimag naal kabu nahi kita ja sakda.
Kundalini da achanak upar thale hona khatarnak hunda hai. Kundalini da jawaab Pranic energy hai. Pranic energy da tatv pani ( Water element and Male emergy hai). Chinese Qigong mediation wale is nu Heaven energy kahinde hai.
Gurbani vich Bagatan di bani vich paroge - Bin badal barkha hoi. Is vaak vich kise bhagat ne apne mediation de experience nu likiya hai.
Pranic energy dasam dwar (sir) ton ik hath di doori te ik badal di taran hai. Is nu khich ke dasam dwar to andar le ana hai. Yogi chandi di taar da example deke vi is nu darshaan di koshish karde hai. Jado tusi is energy naal connect hunde ho ta Sir (head) te halka pressure feel hunda hai. Is energy di chaal ik chharne (waterfall) di taran siddi hai. Jado kirpa hundi hai ta Barish hon da bhulekha hunda hai, fir chharna chal painda hai. Pani di speed nu tusi control nahi kar sakde. Jinni jyadi kirpa hoigi unni speed jyadi hoigi.
Mera khayal hai ke Kundalini Energy te Pranic energy de milan nu Ruhani Viyah kiha janda hai. Shabadan vich 'Mera Pir Ghar Aya' parya hoiga.
Eh sab galan sangat nu na dasan karke main Giani Thakur Singh ji to upset hoi si.
Main dasan vich koi haraj nahi samajhdi, kyonki karna ta sabnu apna apna hai. Jis te Guru di kirpa hoigi uh hi kar sakde hai. Bakiyan nu na time milda hai, na hi utshah jagda hai.

Eh youtube video meditation bare hai te bahut ache tarike naal Pranic energy nu dikhanda hai.

Meditation below is copied from the source http://www.mnwelldir.org/docs/qigong/meditation.htm

Next you will picture the heaven energy coming down through the top of your head, neck, shoulders, into your back, down your back, and when it reaches the hands, comes into the palms of your hands (which are face up) and up your arms to your shoulders where it travels down your body to your perineum.
At this point, it continues straight down the ground and down your legs. It finally spills out your feet (about a foot or so) into the ground where it splashes up and through you and out your head where it starts its journey again.

The really tough part of this meditation is to try and picture both energies traveling through you at the same time. Spend five, ten, fifteen minutes picturing this flow of energy through you and about you.

Questions about God. Why should I meditate - to suck-up to GOD?

My mother like any other religious woman tried her hardest to make me believe in God and do my prayers, go to the temple and also do chanting meditation. My question use to be 'Why'? I saw God as a selfish person who likes people who praise HIM and suck-up to HIM. I didn't see this as a very Godly expectation. I have my EGO and Pride. Why should I repeat his name and try to please him so he might give me what I want in my life. It was dis-empowering exercise in my opinion. For a child, who believed in making her own destiny, for someone who believed that the word 'IMPOSSIBLE' shouldn't be in my dictionary, chanting God's name was a very big waste of time. I could achieve anything that I set my mind to. All I had to do was make up my mind about what I want and make a plan and enforce it. Simply scientific and logical person I was, that believed in doing and not just dreaming. I achieved my goals and always considered myself as a successful person. Success meant material success. That's all there was to achieve!

Now I believe in meditation. Have I changed? Am I illogical and unscientific now?  My partner can't cope with this meditation stuff. He believes that it's a big waste of time. Where do you stand? Do you have an opinion. Off-course you do. But the point is, are you interested in KNOWING THE TRUTH? Why thousands of people meditate? Who is God? Where is HE? What is the purpose of creating is universe? If there is no GOD then who created it, How and Why? Why do we only live up to 90-100 years of age? Why life starts going down-hill after 40?

We all have that curiosity. We all want to live longer. Some consider 100 years of age as long life and some greedy one's like me think of those mystics who lived up to 6000 years of age. How do people achieve results beyond our comprehension?

MEDITATION is contemplation, another way of Self-empowerment, Self-hypnotism, a way to work out what we want in this life beyond material success and a way to find answers to questions about the creator of this universe. The terminology used by spiritual people may be slightly different but notice carefully and you will find that a materially successful person and a magician both apply the same principles to achieve their goals. A businessman calls it a GOAL and a MAGICIAN calls it INTENT. One uses material wealth and the other uses the mental energy from within. FOCUS on the goal /intent is vital in both cases. There is a slight difference in a spiritual person and a magician but there are a lot of similarities. Besides, a spiritual person can be a magician but the opposite is not always true.

What is GOD? Where is HE? Why am I pleasing God?
According to OSHO, Sikhism is EK ONKAR SATNAM. Osho said that the rest of the Japji Sahib uttered by Guru Nanak Dev ji, the founder of Sikhism is simply an effort to expain Ek onkar (God is One) Satnam (His name is TRUTH). Further in the Sikh scripture 'Sri Guru Granth Sahib', it is written

Ekas bin nahi duja koi
There is no other than the ONE.

According to Sikhism, God is formless who is ever present in every particle of this creation. If we apply this philosophy to our own body, God is within every cell of our body. HE is as much within us as is in the rest of the creation.
Gurbani says,
Antar tere nidhan hai, bahar vast na bhal.
God energy is within you, don't try to find it outside.
Ik vast agochar pai
I found a non-physical, untangible item within me.

Re-programming the body cells
Maureen J. Kelly writes in the 'Reiki and the healing buddha' on p.54, "Every cell in our body is a living being. A cell is a microcosm of the whole body and contains its own memory of any hurt or trauma it has experienced and will utilise this memory when responding to any further real or imagined hurt or trauma. This response can manifest in the body as an allergy or pain or depression". Meditation helps us re-program our body cells, get rid of negative reactions and infuse optimism within us.

Am I to please God?
See this universe as a vast ocean and each of us as a drop in it. Our EGO and our DESIRES fill some air in this drop and turn a drop into a bubble. Now the Ego-bubble sees itself as above the ocean, separate from the rest of the ocean. The Ego-bubble expects the ocean to respect his needs and consider him  before any waves are formed. The ocean has a different vibration due to the volume and velocity of water it carries. It is in the interest of the Ego-bubble to understand the ocean and its course, than to expect the ocean to respect the Ego-bubbles desires and goals. To understand the ocean, the bubble must either eradicate its ego or wait for its natural death.
Gurbani says,
Jeevat mare so mar-jeevarah hoi
Aisi marni jo marai fir bahur na marna hoi
Those who learn to eradicate Ego and desires to understand God, then don't have to wait for the natural death of the physical body for this understanding.
