What's the connection between half life and meditation?

Since I have found out that the person who found out about half- life principle, used in making the atomic bomb, was a spiritual person on the quest to find God; i want to know what half-life has to do with Spiritualism. Here is a book that addresses that issue.ThegistofwhatIhavereadisthatitsawrongquestion as my quest is ultimately about being one with God. The authorofbthis. book says that if u remove the identity from the energy, it becomes pure energy, in case of matter but the same can't be applied to humans as they have consciousness. In our case when the identity is removed, what is left if Pure Consciousness. Energy in the form of inorganic matter doesn't have consciousnesss.

Three hours with Bhai Amolak Singh ji Sydney on Meditation

Its time to re-ignite my passion and commitment for meditation. So I visited Bhai Amolak Singh ji in Sydney. I had heard that he visited India and stayed for six months with a Sikh who teaches Meditation at ..........

There wasn't an awful lot of new stuff that I have learnt from him to write about. Most of what he said is already mentioned in this blog, yet it was nice to hear it from a puran Gursikhs mouth as most of what I write has either been self-experienced stuff or read in books written by people of other religions.

One thing he explained very well was 'How this world began'. I have asked this question in meditation and did receive the answer but didn't understand it in depth. This answer by Amolak Singh ji was in terms of elements and I liked it. Here it is...

1st there was God. From Naam (word / Sound ) he created everything.
From Naam 1st came the AIR, then WATER and then FIRE.
This in Hinduism is explained in terms of three corresponding Gods.
BRAHMA   (AIR - GIVER OF BIRTH)
VISHNU    (WATER - SUSTAINER OF LIFE)
MAHESH   (FIRE - DESTROYER / PROTECTOR)

These three have their individual forces /helpers along with them.The 3 elements create 3 gunas - Rajas, Sattav, Tamas.

These 3 elements together were used to create EARTH element and the 5th element is ETHER (Akash).

The 5 five elements were used to create the rest of the creation.

The 3 gunas create the 5 thiefs - Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachment, Ego. These 5 thiefs control the playing field and keep the Man as their slave. Meditation is the only weapon the Man has at its disposal to concur these five. When we focus on God and meditate, these 5 get upset and try their best to create havoc in our THOUGHTS. Our Thoughts are the creation of one of the 3 gunas, depending upon what kind of thought it is. Nonethess, each THOUGHT is MAYA as it is a creation of these gunas. So to get away from MAYA, we must stay away from thought in meditation.

For meditation purpose, its important to SPEAK the WORD with your MOUTH and then LISTEN to the same with your EARS. Then focus on the BREATH. Pay attention that the AIR is balanced in both nostrils. Mostly, we are either using more of left or right brain, therefore, the breath that comes from the nostrils is also unbalanced. Left side is called MOON and right side is SUN.

Focus on the base of nose where the breath from the two nostrils meet. Opening of the 3rd eye is the important to be able to see the invisible. Once its open, then one can go out that door each night to meet with GOD.

Then he mentioned 'Mukat dwara Sarkara' the door to Salvation is small as the size of a mustard seed. Therefore, we can't enter this door alongwith our huge EGO. It simply can't fit through the door.
The opening of the dasam dwar or 7th chakra is not the destination, its mere beginning of the path.
The key to open the door to God's house is with the GURU / Spiritual master. 1st time only Guru can show us the door and then we are able to get there on our own.

I was very pleased to hear this as Guru Nanak already did this for me. When this happened to me, I was so shocked that God was just there and yet I simply couldn't see in that direction until Guru Nanak pointed in this direction at a very weird angle within the 3rd eye.

Practical advice - at night, don't go to sleep; just sit in the reclining comfortable position. Repeat the Naam slowly - say Wah and hear it then Guru and hear it. Continue doing so and don't worry if you fall asleep. Whenever you wake up - start again. He mentioned six to 12 hours of meditation with 2 hours in one sitting.

WHAT IS HUKAM? Amolak Singh ji said that Hukam is to stay in the PRESENT. Worrying about what might happen tomorrow is a THOUGHT, thought is MAYA. Staying away from unnecessary thought is  staying away from Maya and accepting Hukam. This doesn't mean not to prepare and plan but simply means not to indulge in worry. Do your best and then Whatever will be, will be.

The practitioner of meditation will automatically will receive spiritual powers but refrain from using those powers and not worry about acquiring them either. The are very small achievements and are not the goal. Do not let their use distract you from your goal of meeting God.

Psychic powers and chakras

The info below was found on some website, sometime ago. Although, various powers have been shon to relate to different chakras, they do not activate until the 6th chakra is open. As far as elemts are concerned, I do not believe that heart chakra is Air. Since 5th chakra is related to hearing, may be it is the chakra of the Air element. 6th and 7th chakras have connections to all elements and psychi.

The first chakra, located at the base of the spine at the perineum is the *root chakra*, muladhara. It primarily relates to the element of earth and to psychic smell.

The second chakra, known as the *sacral center*, svadhisthana, is located above and behind the genitals. Its dominant element is water, and it is related to psychic taste.

Third of the chakras is the *solar plexus*, manipura, located at the navel and corresponding with the emotions and with the element of fire; also with psychic sight (clairvoyance).

The *heart chakra*, anahata, is the fourth chakra, located over the heart and corresponding with the element of air, and also with psychic touch.

The fifth chakra is the *throat chakra*, vishuddha, located at the base of the throat (thyroid) and corresponding with psychic hearing (clairaudience).

The remaining two chakras are very important. They relate mostly to elevated states of consciousness. The *frontal chakra*, (or 'third eye') ajna, the sixth chakra, is located between, and slightly above, the eyebrows. Ajna is the center of psychic powers and can produce many psychic effects. Meditation on ajna is said to cure nervousness.

Finally, the *crown chakra*, sahasrara, located atop the head, (pineal gland) is the seventh chakra. It is referred to as the thousand-petaled lotus and corresponds with astral projection and enlightenment.

Faith means Feeling the presence

Faith => Believing
Believing = Presence of something around and above you, an unseen force protecting you (God)
= Feeling the presence = Observing yourself = being present in the moment to observe.

The reward for the observer is to be able to feel the God factor within you first and then be able to appreciate the God factor in everything out in the worldly creation.

God factor is the unseen force within you. First step is to FEEL the presence. This opens up your extra-senses, clair senses that make you able to see, hear etc.

How do dead people look in appearance? Can you touch them? Can ghosts physically harm you i.e. push you or throw something at you?

Dead people can have many appearances. It has been commented over and over that the higher their vibration, the more they appear like a radiant star. Once you tune into their frequencies they will look younger than when they died, free of any physical defects. They also have various garments on. You can touch them in the astral and this can be a very warming experience.

Are people generally good in the astral world or are there nasty elements too?

Both. After a cycle on earth, the spirits leave the physical and have to inhabit another locale, and what they were here, may be what they will be there. People are not "bad", but instead are judged that way because they are hurt, confused, afraid, shamed, and so forth. When they leave this physical life, they have a chance to heal before they begin another. People also get to see the wrongs they have done to others, and I hear this is a very painful process.

Can you speak with the dead people that you meet?

Yes and No. Depending on where each of you are at vibrationally. I tried to speak to my dead step mother, but she wasn't able to communicate back with me. It was all non-verbal.

After death, when does one finish a birth and enter the next? Do all people end up wandering as ghosts for a while before they go on to their next birth?

No. People only wander around the earth if they are lost, confused, clinging to the material world (or to a person who has not died yet) and so forth. There are many places and people to experience in the afterlife. We chose our next incarnation at our own pace after we review what we accomplished and what didn't get learned. This can be a short while, or a century in physical life terms (time is non-existent once in the astral or higher planes). It may not necessarily be here on earth. When you finish your physical earth cycle, you will go to the next plane of existence, never to return to earth (unless you chose to in order to teach, lead, heal, etc.) Going through the earth cycles can take a thousand lifetimes or just several. That is up to us. That is why it is so important to not cling to material goods, to carry fear and hatred in our hearts. All of the spiritual figures throughout our history have taught the same thing; the true meaning of life is love for one another and ourselves. All things that we pursue to make us temporarily happy are unnecessary in the long run, and are only obstacles that keep us from our true path of enlightenment.

Why don't the dead come and make their presence felt if they are there and can see us? Have you known of cases where the dead have helped or guided the living?

They do make their presence felt. There are countless stories of people visiting live relatives shortly after they have died, helped them in time of need, spoke to them in their dreams and so forth.

Does the soul have a name (an inner name) - something like a permanent name that does not ever change?

God. What I mean by that is, is that God created us, fills us, and never dies, just as we never die. In our final process, we unite with God and are God.

Since you are able to view the past, present and future concurrently, isn't it strange that everything is already pre-destined for us? And if this is true, then does this mean that we have actually no part to play of our own. Are we merely puppets performing a certain fixed role?

God gave us free will so our future is as we make it. You have an ultimate destiny, but how you walk on the path towards that destiny is up to you. Someone once said, "It's not what is done or said to you, it's how you react." I also read recently that our lives are like blank sheets of paper and how we react to situations colors that paper. What is done to us is neither good or bad, just neutral.

How powerful is the will of the human mind? Is it so powerful that it can change destiny? E.g. suppose a person is not destined to have a house of his own, he perseveres and struggles and somehow with sheer determination manages to have a house for himself. Can he actually do that or was he only able to do that because he was actually destined to do it?

The power of the mind is infinite. When we clear ourselves of our blocks (fear, judgment, hatred, negativity) we can then overcome anything. Miracles of old will be miracles of today.

Are you clear about the "purpose of your life" i.e. what you are supposed to do in this birth?

I am personally very clear on my path. If you want to know what it is, I'll tell you briefly; we are here to learn and love. We cannot move beyond this physical realm until we learn about ourselves. Every action we take to help our fellow man, helps ourselves. The highest moral you can have is love. There are also different soul purposes while here on earth; there are the teachers, caretakers, healers, leaders, guides and learners. My role is the teacher.

water can wash away the dirt.

When the clothes are soiled and stained by urine,

soap can wash them clean.

But when the intellect is stained and polluted by sin,

The Pandits, the religious scholars, cannot find that time, even if it is written in the Puraanas.

That time is not known to the Qazis, who study the Koran.

The day and the date are not known to the Yogis, nor is the month or the season.

The Creator who created this creation-only He Himself knows.

How can we speak of Him? How can we praise Him? How can we describe Him? How can we know Him?

The Vedas say that you can search and search for them all, until you grow weary.

The scriptures say that there are 18,000 worlds, but in reality, there is only One Universe.

The thirty-second pauri pays your debts and completes your karma.

The thirty-third pauri destroys your ego and brings home your divinity.It removes negativity, neutralises your destructive nature and prevents harm to others by your hand. 

The thirty-fourth pauri brings stability. The thirty-fifth pauri gives you the breadth to do your duty and fulfill your responsibility. 

The thirty sixth pauri brings divine realisation. It grants complete understanding of the heavens and the earth. 

The thirty-seventh pauri cuts the karma. It eradicates the impact of all bad karmas.

The thirty-eighth pauri gives you the power to rewrite your own destiny.
